THE "DECIDERE DA SOLI" PROJECT

We are pleased to be part of the project "Decidere DA SOLI" (Right to Self-Determination to Discover Opportunities for Freedom and Inclusion).

Decidere DA SOLI is a project aimed at promoting the inclusion of children with disabilities in the school and social life of the city and province of Pisa. To foster the full participation of minors with disabilities in social and educational activities, cultural barriers must be removed, primarily the belief that they are incapable of making decisions independently and always require someone else to decide for them. The central theme of the project will therefore be self-determination.

Alfea Cinematografica will produce videos that will showcase the story of the project, its activities, experiences, and results.

Decidere DA SOLI involves seventeen organizations and entities from the local area: Associazione Italiana Persone Down EPS/EPS Pisa (lead organization), Alfea Cinematografica s.c., Alzaia Social Cooperative, Eppursimuove ASD-APS, Amref Fdu Toscana ODV, CamminaMenti Social Cooperative, Cineclub Arsenale APS, Municipality of Pisa, CUS Pisa ASD, I.C. Gamerra, I.C. L.S. Tongiorgi, I.C. Niccolò Pisano, I.C. Vincenzo Galilei, I.I.S. E. Santoni, Il Simbolo Social Cooperative, Province of Pisa, Re-Play Cultural Association, Società della Salute Pisana.

Decidere DA SOLI also encompasses several areas:

– SCHOOL: Services and pathways to improve the school inclusion of students with disabilities. Launch of the School Orientation Desk at I.C. Galilei in Pisa.

– SIBLINGS: Support activities for siblings (brothers and sisters of people with disabilities). Individual meetings, group discussions, psychological support for siblings; workshops and dramatization activities.

– TRAINING: Support pathways for the educational community. Specifically, training aimed at developing the skills of operators and the subsequent growth of the organizational structure; three-part training for minors with disabilities, their families, and operators.

– NETWORK: Networking efforts for territorial change to ensure inclusive activities are offered within the Pisa area, avoiding activities that are solely designed for and directed only at people with disabilities.

– EVENTS OPEN TO THE ENTIRE COMMUNITY: The festival "Cinema Tells Self-Determination," which includes film screenings, concerts, and the traveling museum "Storie in Movimento."

All activities are available on the project's channels.
