On March 4th 1922 the audience of the Marmosaal cinema, inside the Berlin zoo, was asked to arrive dressed up in period costumes, Biedermeier style. The occasion left its mark in the history and cultural imagination of the world: the world premiere of Maestro Friedric Wilhem Murnau's Nosferatu. Freely inspired by Bram Stoker's novel Dracula, the silent film quickly became one of the greatest horror films in the history of cinema, so much to have inspired a series of remakes and being mentioned in numerous films such as Stanley Kubrick's A Clockwork Orange and Batman by Tim Burton. A masterpiece of Expressionism, permeated with dazzling contrasts of light and shadow, Nosferatu turns 100 and to celebrate it at best, a project has been created that combines cinema and live music. The musicians Davide Barbafiera and Tommaso Tanzini, inspired by the fascinating gothic atmosphere of the restored film, have written an unpublished and original soundtrack in electronic music which plunges the viewer into a suggestive dreamlike and horrific dimension. In this way the film rediscovers that visionary and alienating power that made it a great classic of early world cinematography.
We propose to offer a free evening of film screening combined with a live musical performance, in a way that stimulates the interest of both film and music lovers. We offer an "all inclusive" service, for more information commerciale@alfeacinematografica.com or +39 335 1324485.
Davide Barbafiera and Tommaso Tanzini, two talents from the indie music scene, will take care of the live sound. Davide Barbafiera is a musician, sound designer and videomaker and has produced music for performances and audiovisual installations. He plays with numerous groups including Campos, Pornorockerz and Zeta 99 and he is the founder of "Aloch Dischi", an electronic music label that welcomes artists from all over the world; Tommaso Tanzini began his career as a musician with the folk punk group Criminal Jokers (he is the co-founder) and graduated from the Lizard Acoustic Guitar Academy in Fiesole. As a solo artist he has produced two albums, "Piena", an introspective folk record, and "Giganti" closer to new wave sounds, while he is the bass player in bands including Campos e Ico and I casi umani.
